Templates are pre-designed files that you or somebody else (like Microsoft) creates to use as a pattern for a job. The template may be for a business card, brochure, resume, demonstration. . .the list goes on. Regardless of the purpose, templates offer the design consistency which any organization (or person ) needs to look professional. (You can also find templates for Excel, PowerPoint, and other applications, but in this guide we’re focusing on Microsoft Word.)
The template includes a specific design, style, design and, sometimes, fields and text that are common to every use of the template. Some templates are really complete (for instance, business cards), you merely have to change the individual’s name, phone number, and email address. Others, such as business reports or brochures, could demand that everything is changed except the design and layout.
Once you create a template, then you may use it over and over. Bear in mind that while you open a template to start a job, you save the job as a different file type, like the simple .docx Word format, for editing, sharing, printing, and more. The template file stays the same, unless or until you want to alter it (more on this later).
Customized templates can be as simple or complex as needed. For instance, you might create a template for your company’s newsletter, posters for a conference, or even invitations for corporate occasions. You can even create interactive templates to load the Intranet, so others can fill in the blanks to print their own envelopes and letterhead, as an example.
First, produce a record –layout and format , add images and photos. If it’s interactive, then select Controls from the Developer tab and create custom input fields for user interaction.
Some templates use interactive controls for user input. For example, imagine that after a month, the branch managers, assistant managers, and loan originators of a large banking institution have a meeting at one of the 12 branches. It is your helper’s task to email the date, time, place, speakers, themes, and the agenda to every attendee. Instead of have that person retype the data at a normal template, you can create a template where options can be selected from a list.
Templates allow you to configure all of the relevant settings you need pre-applied to documents–webpage design, styles, formatting, tabs, boilerplate text, and so on. You can then easily make a new document based on that template.
When you save a document as a template, then you may then use that template to make new files. Those new files include all the text (and images( and other content) that the template contains. They also have all the same page design settings, segments, and styles as the template. Templates can save a great deal of time when you’re creating multiple files that have to get a consistent design, format, and a few boilerplate text.
