Templates are pre-designed files that you or someone else (such as Microsoft) generates to use as a blueprint for a job. The template may be for a business card, brochure, resume, demonstration. . .the list continues. Regardless of the purpose, templates offer the plan consistency that any company (or person ) needs to look professional. (You can also find templates for Excel, PowerPoint, and other applications, but in this article we are focusing on Microsoft Word.)
The template contains a specific layout, style, design and, occasionally, fields and text that are common to each use of that template. Some templates are really complete (such as business cards), you only have to alter somebody’s name, phone number, and email address. Others, like business reports or brochures, could require that everything is altered except the layout and design.
As soon as you make a template, then you can use it repeatedly. Remember that while you start a template to start a project, you save the project as another file type, such as the simple .docx Word structure, for editing, sharing, printing, and much more. The template file remains the same, unless or until you want to alter it (more on that later).
Custom templates can be as straightforward or complex as needed. By way of instance, you may create a template for your organization’s newsletter, posters for a seminar, or invitations for corporate occasions. You could even create interactive templates to load on the Intranet, so others can fill in the blanks to print their own envelopes and letterhead, for instance.
First, create a record –design and format it, add images and photos. If it’s interactive, select Controls in the Developer tab and create custom input fields for user interaction.
Some templates utilize interactive controls for user input. For instance, imagine that after a month, the division managers, assistant managers, and loan originators of a large banking institution have a meeting at one of the 12 branches. It’s your assistant’s task to email the date, time, place, speakers, topics, and agenda to each attendee. Instead of have that individual retype the information at a normal template, you can make a template in which options can be chosen from a listing.
Templates let you configure all of the applicable settings you want pre-applied to files –webpage design, styles, formatting, tabs, boilerplate text, and so on. You may then easily create a new file based on that template.
After you save a document as a template, you may then use that template to make new files. Those new files include all the text (and images( and other content) the template contains. They also have all the same page layout settings, sections, and fashions as the template. Templates can save a lot of time when you’re creating multiple documents which have to get a consistent layout, format, and some boilerplate text.
