Templates are pre-designed files that you or somebody else (such as Microsoft) generates to use as a pattern for a project. The template may be to get a business card, brochure, resume, presentation. . .the list continues. Regardless of the purpose, templates provide the design consistency which any company (or individual) needs to look professional. (You can also find templates for Excel, PowerPoint, and other programs, but in this guide we’re focusing on Microsoft Word.)
The template includes a particular design, design, layout and, sometimes, fields and text that are common to each use of the template. Some templates are so complete (such as business cards), you only have to alter somebody’s name, phone number, and email address. Others, like company reports or brochures, could demand that everything is changed except the layout and design.
Once you make a template, you may use it over and over. Bear in mind that while you start a template to start a project, you save the job as a different file type, like the simple .docx Word structure, such as editing, printing, sharing, and much more. The template file stays the same, unless or until you want to change it (more on that later).
Custom templates can be as simple or complicated as needed. By way of example, you might create a template for your organization’s newsletter, posters for a conference, or even invitations for corporate occasions. You could even produce interactive templates to load on the Intranet, so others can fill in the blanks to publish their own envelopes and letterhead, for instance.
To begin with, produce a record –layout and format , add graphics and photos. If it’s interactive, select Controls in the Developer tab and make custom input fields for user interaction.
Some templates utilize interactive controls for user input. By way of example, imagine that once a month, the division managers, assistant managers, and loan originators of a large banking institution have a meeting at one of the 12 branches. It’s your assistant’s job to email the date, time, location, speakers, topics, and agenda to each attendee. Rather than have that person retype the data in a regular template, you can create a template in which choices can be chosen from a listing.
Templates let you configure all of the applicable settings you need pre-applied to documents–page design, styles, formatting, tabs, boilerplate text, etc. You may then easily create a new file based on that template.
When you save a document as a template, you may then use that template to create new documents. Those new documents contain all the text (and images, and other articles ) the template contains. They also have all the same page design settings, segments, and styles as the template. Templates can save a great deal of time when you are creating multiple documents that have to have a consistent layout, format, and a few boilerplate text.
