Templates are pre-designed files that you or somebody else (like Microsoft) generates to use as a pattern for a project. The template may be to get a business card, brochure, resume, demonstration. . .the list continues. Irrespective of the purpose, templates provide the plan consistency which any organization (or individual) needs to look professional. (you could also find templates for Excel, PowerPoint, and other applications, but in this article we are focusing on Microsoft Word.)
The template includes a specific layout, design, design and, occasionally, text and fields that are common to every use of the template. Some templates are really complete (such as business cards), you merely need to alter somebody’s name, contact number, and email address. Others, like company reports or brochures, could demand that everything is altered except the layout and design.
As soon as you create a template, then you can use it repeatedly. Remember that while you start a template to start a job, you save the project as a different file type, such as the simple .docx Word structure, for editing, sharing, printing, and more. The template file remains the same, unless or until you want to alter it (more on this later).
Custom templates can be as straightforward or complex as needed. For example, you may create a template for your company’s newsletter, posters for a seminar, or even invitations for corporate events. You could also produce interactive templates to load the Intranet, so others can fill in the blanks to print their own envelopes and letterhead, as an example.
First, create a record –design and format it, add graphics and photos. If it’s interactive, select Controls from the Developer tab and create custom input fields for user interaction.
Some templates use interactive controls for user input. For instance, imagine that after a month, the branch managers, assistant managers, and loan originators of a large banking institution have a meeting at one of the 12 branches. It’s your assistant’s task to email the date, time, location, speakers, topics, and the agenda to every attendee. Rather than having that individual retype the data in a regular template, you may create a template in which choices can be selected from a list.
Programs allow you to configure all the relevant settings you want pre-applied to files –page layout, styles, formatting, tabs, boilerplate text, and so on. You may then easily create a new file based on that template.
After you save a document as a template, then you may then use that template to create new documents. Those new documents contain all of the text (and images( and other articles ) that the template contains. They also have the same page layout settings, sections, and fashions as the template. Templates can save a great deal of time when you’re creating numerous documents which need to have a consistent layout, format, and a few boilerplate text.
