Templates are pre-designed files that you or someone else (such as Microsoft) creates to use as a pattern for a job. The template could be for a business card, brochure, resume, presentation. . .the list continues. Irrespective of the purpose, templates offer the plan consistency which any organization (or individual) needs to look professional. (You can also find templates for Excel, PowerPoint, and other programs, but in this guide we’re focusing on Microsoft Word.)
The template includes a specific design, design, design and, occasionally, text and fields which are common to each use of that template. Some templates are really complete (for instance, business cards), you merely need to change the individual’s name, contact number, and email address. Others, such as business reports or brochures, could require that everything is altered except the layout and design.
Once you make a template, you may use it repeatedly. Bear in mind that while you open a template to initiate a job, you save the project as another file type, like the simple .docx Word structure, such as editing, sharing, printing, and much more. The template file stays the same, unless or until you want to change it (more on this later).
Customized templates can be as straightforward or complicated as needed. By way of example, you may create a template for your company’s newsletter, posters for a conference, or even invitations for corporate occasions. You can also produce interactive templates to load on the Intranet, so others can fill in the blanks to publish their own envelopes and letterhead, for instance.
To begin with, produce a document–layout and format , add graphics and photos. If it’s interactive, then select Controls from the Developer tab and make custom input fields for user interaction.
Some templates use interactive controls for user input. By way of instance, imagine that once a month, the branch managers, assistant managers, and loan originators of a large banking institution have a meeting at one of the 12 branches. It is your assistant’s task to email the date, time, place, speakers, themes, and the agenda to each attendee. Rather than having that individual retype the information in a normal template, you can create a template where choices can be selected from a listing.
Programs allow you to configure all of the relevant settings you need pre-applied to documents–webpage layout, styles, formatting, tabs, boilerplate text, etc. You may then easily make a new file based on that template.
When you save a document as a template, you can then use that template to create new documents. Those new documents contain all the text (and images, and other content) the template contains. They also have the same page layout settings, sections, and fashions as the template. Templates can save you a great deal of time when you are creating numerous files which need to have a consistent design, format, and a few boilerplate text.
