Templates are pre-designed files that you or somebody else (like Microsoft) generates to use as a pattern for a project. The template may be for a business card, brochure, resume, presentation. . .the list continues. Irrespective of the purpose, templates provide the design consistency which any organization (or individual) needs to look professional. (you could also find templates for Excel, PowerPoint, and other applications, but in this guide we’re focusing on Microsoft Word.)
The template includes a specific layout, style, design and, occasionally, fields and text that are common to every use of the template. Some templates are really complete (for instance, business cards), you merely have to change the individual’s name, phone number, and email address. Others, such as company reports or brochures, could demand that everything is changed except the design and layout.
As soon as you create a template, you can use it repeatedly. Remember that while you open a template to start a job, you save the project as another file type, such as the simple .docx Word structure, such as editing, sharing, printing, and much more. The template file remains the same, unless or until you want to alter it (more on this later).
Customized templates can be as simple or complex as needed. For example, you might create a template for your company’s newsletter, posters for a conference, or even invitations for corporate occasions. You could also produce interactive templates to load the Intranet, so others can fill in the blanks to publish their own envelopes and letterhead, as an example.
To begin with, create a record –design and format , add images and photographs. When it’s interactive, then pick Controls in the Developer tab and make custom input fields for user interaction.
Some templates use interactive controls for user input. For instance, imagine that once a month, the division managers, assistant managers, and loan originators of a large banking institution have a meeting at one of the 12 branches. It’s your assistant’s job to email the date, time, place, speakers, topics, and agenda to every attendee. Instead of have that individual retype the data in a normal template, you can create a template in which options can be chosen from a list.
Templates let you configure all of the applicable settings you need pre-applied to files –page design, styles, formatting, tabs, boilerplate text, and so on. You may then easily create a new file based on that template.
After you save a document as a template, then you may then use that template to make new files. Those new files include all the text (and images( and other articles ) the template contains. They also have the exact same page layout settings, sections, and styles as the template. Templates can save you a lot of time when you are creating multiple documents that need to have a consistent design, format, and a few boilerplate text.
