Templates are pre-designed documents that you or somebody else (like Microsoft) creates to use as a blueprint for a job. The template could be for a business card, brochure, resume, presentation. . .the list goes on. Irrespective of the purpose, templates provide the design consistency that any company (or person ) needs to look professional. (you could also find templates for Excel, PowerPoint, and other programs, but in this guide we’re focusing on Microsoft Word.)
The template contains a specific design, design, layout and, occasionally, fields and text that are common to every use of the template. Some templates are so complete (such as business cards), you only need to change the individual’s name, phone number, and email address. Others, like company reports or brochures, could require that everything is changed except the layout and design.
Once you make a template, you can use it repeatedly. The template file stays the same, unless or until you want to change it (more on this later).
Customized templates can be as simple or complex as needed. For instance, you might create a template for your organization’s newsletter, posters for a conference, or invitations for corporate occasions. You can even create interactive templates to load the Intranet, so others may fill in the blanks to print their own envelopes and letterhead, for instance.
To begin with, produce a document–design and format , add images and photos. If it’s interactive, then select Controls from the Developer tab and make custom input fields for user interaction.
Some templates utilize interactive controls for user input. By way of example, imagine that after a month, the division managers, assistant managers, and loan originators of a large banking institution have a meeting at one of the 12 branches. It’s your helper’s job to email the date, time, location, speakers, themes, and agenda to each attendee. Rather than having that person retype the data at a regular template, you can create a template where options can be selected from a list.
