Templates are pre-designed documents that you or somebody else (such as Microsoft) generates to use as a blueprint for a project. The template may be for a business card, brochure, resume, demonstration. . .the list continues. Regardless of the purpose, templates offer the plan consistency which any company (or individual) needs to appear professional. (you could also find templates for Excel, PowerPoint, and other applications, but in this article we are focusing on Microsoft Word.)
The template contains a particular design, design, layout and, occasionally, text and fields that are common to each use of that template. Some templates are really complete (for instance, business cards), you merely have to change the individual’s name, contact number, and email address. Others, such as company reports or brochures, could require that everything is changed except the design and layout.
Once you make a template, you may use it repeatedly. Remember that while you open a template to start a job, you save the project as a different file type, like the basic .docx Word format, for editing, sharing, printing, and more. The template file remains the same, unless or until you wish to alter it (more on that later).
Custom templates can be as simple or complicated as needed. For example, you might create a template for your company’s newsletter, posters for a seminar, or even invitations for corporate occasions. You can even produce interactive templates to load on the Intranet, so others may fill in the blanks to print their own envelopes and letterhead, as an example.
To begin with, produce a document–layout and format it, add graphics and photos. If it’s interactive, pick Controls from the Developer tab and create custom input fields for user interaction.
Some templates utilize interactive controls for user input. By way of example, imagine that after a month, the division managers, assistant managers, and loan originators of a large banking institution have a meeting at one of the 12 branches. It’s your helper’s job to email the date, time, location, speakers, topics, and agenda to every attendee. Instead of having that person retype the information in a regular template, you can make a template where options can be selected from a listing.
Programs allow you to configure all of the applicable settings you need pre-applied to documents–page layout, styles, formatting, tabs, boilerplate text, and so on. You can then easily create a new file based on that template.
When you save a document as a template, you can then use that template to make new documents. Those new files include all of the text (and images( and other articles ) the template contains. They also have the exact same page design settings, segments, and styles as the template. Templates can save a lot of time when you’re creating multiple documents which need to get a consistent design, format, and a few boilerplate text.
