Templates are pre-designed documents that you or somebody else (like Microsoft) creates to use as a blueprint for a job. The template may be for a business card, brochure, resume, presentation. . .the list continues. Irrespective of the purpose, templates provide the plan consistency which any organization (or individual) needs to appear professional. (you could also find templates for Excel, PowerPoint, and other applications, but in this guide we are focusing on Microsoft Word.)
The template includes a specific design, style, design and, occasionally, text and fields which are common to each use of that template. Some templates are really complete (such as business cards), you merely have to change somebody’s name, phone number, and email address. Others, like business reports or brochures, could require that everything is altered except the design and layout.
Once you make a template, then you may use it over and over. Bear in mind that while you open a template to initiate a job, you save the project as another file type, such as the basic .docx Word structure, for editing, sharing, printing, and more. The template file stays the same, unless or until you want to alter it (more on that later).
Custom templates can be as simple or complicated as needed. By way of instance, you might create a template for your company’s newsletter, posters for a conference, or invitations for corporate occasions. You could also create interactive templates to load on the Intranet, so others may fill in the blanks to publish their own envelopes and letterhead, for instance.
First, create a record –design and format , add images and photographs. When it’s interactive, then select Controls in the Developer tab and make custom input fields for user interaction.
Some templates utilize interactive controls for user input. For example, imagine that once a month, the division managers, assistant managers, and loan originators of a large banking institution have a meeting at one of the 12 branches. It’s your assistant’s task to email the date, time, place, speakers, topics, and the agenda to every attendee. Rather than having that person retype the data in a regular template, you can make a template where options can be chosen from a list.
Templates allow you to configure all of the applicable settings you need pre-applied to files –webpage layout, styles, formatting, tabs, boilerplate text, and so on. You may then easily create a new document based on that template.
When you save a document as a template, then you may then use that template to create new documents. Those new documents contain all the text (and images( and other articles ) that the template contains. They also have all the same page layout settings, sections, and styles as the template. Templates can save you a great deal of time when you are creating numerous documents that need to get a consistent design, format, and some boilerplate text.
