Templates are pre-designed files that you or somebody else (like Microsoft) creates to use as a blueprint for a project. The template could be for a business card, brochure, resume, presentation. . .the list goes on. Irrespective of the purpose, templates provide the design consistency which any company (or individual) needs to appear professional. (You can also find templates for Excel, PowerPoint, and other applications, but in this article we’re focusing on Microsoft Word.)
The template includes a particular layout, design, layout and, occasionally, text and fields which are common to every use of the template. Some templates are really complete (for instance, business cards), you merely need to change the individual’s name, contact number, and email address. Others, such as company reports or brochures, could require that everything is altered except the design and layout.
Once you create a template, then you may use it over and over. Remember that while you start a template to initiate a job, you save the project as a different file type, like the simple .docx Word structure, for editing, sharing, printing, and much more. The template file stays the same, unless or until you want to change it (more on that later).
Custom templates can be as straightforward or complicated as needed. For example, you may create a template for your company’s newsletter, posters for a seminar, or invitations for corporate events. You could even produce interactive templates to load on the Intranet, so others may fill in the blanks to publish their own envelopes and letterhead, for instance.
First, produce a document–design and format , add images and photographs. If it’s interactive, then select Controls in the Developer tab and make custom input fields for user interaction.
Some templates utilize interactive controls for user input. By way of instance, imagine that after a month, the branch managers, assistant managers, and loan originators of a large banking institution have a meeting at one of the 12 branches. It’s your helper’s task to email the date, time, location, speakers, themes, and agenda to every attendee. Instead of have that individual retype the information in a normal template, you can create a template in which choices can be chosen from a listing.
Programs allow you to configure all of the applicable settings you need pre-applied to documents–page layout, styles, formatting, tabs, boilerplate text, etc. You can then easily make a new document based on that template.
After you save a document as a template, then you can then use that template to make new files. Those new documents contain all of the text (and images, and other articles ) the template contains. They also have the exact same page design settings, segments, and styles as the template. Templates can save a lot of time when you’re creating multiple documents which need to get a consistent layout, format, and some boilerplate text.
